1. Nghe An University is a public higher education institution within the national education system of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. The university was established pursuant to the following document:

  • Prime Minister’s Decision No. 1653/QĐ-TTg, dated December 26, 2024, regarding the merger of Nghe An Pedagogical College into Nghe An University of Economics and renaming Nghe An University of Economics to Nghe An University.

2. Nghe An University is a public service provider granted partial autonomy in financial management, organizational structure, and personnel as prescribed by law. The university possesses legal entity status, has its own seal, and is authorized to open accounts at commercial banks and the State Treasury.

3. Nghe An University is an entity under the authority of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, while also being subject to the management of the Ministry of Education and Training regarding strategy, planning, educational development policies, faculty standards, goals, curriculum, training methods, enrollment, training organization, assessment, graduation recognition, and degree issuance.

Introduction to the Formation and Development of Nghe An University

On January 31, 2005, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Minh Hien signed Decision No. 483/QĐ-BGD&ĐT-TCCB to establish Nghe An College of Economics and Technology, based on upgrading the Nghe An School of Economics and Technology, which had over 45 years of experience in vocational training. On January 27, 2014, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 205/QĐ-TTg to establish Nghe An University of Economics based on upgrading Nghe An College of Economics and Technology. On December 26, 2024, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1653/QĐ-TTg to merge Nghe An Pedagogical College into Nghe An University of Economics and rename it Nghe An University. This is truly an honor for the university’s staff and faculty, as well as a source of pride for Nghe An Province.

Nghe An University is tasked with training bachelor’s and engineer’s degrees in Economics – Technology in various fields (Information Technology, Financial Technology, Accounting, Economics, Digital Economics, Forestry, Marketing, High-Tech Agriculture, Land Management, Business Administration, Finance and Banking, Veterinary Medicine, E-commerce, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, English Language) and master’s degrees in Business Administration and Economic Management, meeting the human resource needs for the socio-economic development of Nghe An, the North Central region, and the country. The university conducts scientific research and technology application, particularly in economic management, agricultural and forestry engineering, and resource management to improve production efficiency, business performance, and the industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas. It also provides training, retraining, and professional advancement for civil servants, public employees, and technical staff to meet professional standardization requirements, as well as engaging in international cooperation in training, research, scientific exchange, and technology transfer.

In 2024, the university celebrated the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Nghe An University of Economics (now Nghe An University) and the 64-year tradition of the institution. With the spirit of “Creativity, Integration, and Development,” along with the attention and direction of the Nghe An Provincial People’s Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training, and other authorities and agencies, all faculty, staff, and students of the university will strive to build Nghe An University into a reputable higher education and scientific research and technology transfer institution both domestically and internationally.
